Obituary for Ida May Harmon (Burr)

Ida May Burr Harmon, known to loved ones as “Burrsy,” passed away on July 13, 2018, at 91 years old. She is predeceased by her husband M. MacPherson Harmon, parents Raymond and Mary Boorom Burr, sisters Lottie Strobele, Lillian Trupp, and Arlene Steele, and brother Addison Burr. Ida is survived by her children Ira (Susan) Harmon, Mary (Daniel) Dailor, John Harmon, Daniel (Donna) Harmon, Linda (John) Hendry, Theodore (Lisa) Harmon, as well as her 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandson.
Ida was born on May 9, 1927, in Oakfield, New York and was a graduate of Oakfield-Alabama High School. She married Mac Harmon in 1950 and together they ran a dairy farm in Le Roy, New York. Ida enjoyed anything she could win, be it Phase 10, Rummikub, Bingo, or Po-ke-no and loved watching horse races. She will be remembered for her deep love of her family and her cows (who she affectionately called “her girls”).
The family will be holding a private interment on Friday, August 17, 2018. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First United Presbyterian Church, 893 George St., Mumford, NY 14511. A reception will immediately follow at Freeman Park, Mumford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First United Presbyterian Church of Mumford or to the Monroe Community Hospital Auxiliary, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620.
